This is a wonderful example of Rubem Valentim's later works from the 80s. During this his time in Rome, from the late 1960’s, Valentim, began creating paintings that were not directly illustrative. Their colours were not necessarily natural and didn't strictly follow the colour codes of the nations of Candomblé which he had previously worked with. This trend continued throughout his career, particularly in the 1980s. In this phase, he produced works like "Emblema 80" (1985), which is included in the link and features vibrant colour schemes and innovative compositional arrangements.
