Since its launch in 2015, LAMB has established itself as one of the most dynamic galleries in Europe for modern and contemporary art from Latin America. At its home in London, a refurbished townhouse in Mayfair, it stages regular exhibitions that celebrate unsung artists of the post-war period and emerging talents from Brazil, Peru, Argentina and elsewhere. In adopting a multidisciplinary approach with its programme, the gallery draws connections between current practice and the rich materiality embraced by preceding generations of artists. The founder of LAMB, Lucinda Bellm, has a longstanding commitment to growing the visibility of art from Latin America. She began buying and selling Brazilian art while living in Sāo Paulo, starting in 2012, and continues to travel regularly to Latin America to visit artists’ studios and engage directly with artistic developments in the region. LAMB participates in international art fairs to foster private and institutional collecting of Latin American art, and to draw wider public attention to the field. The gallery’s sister business, 32 St George, commissions furniture and objects from leading Latin American designers whose work is informed by mid-century aesthetics.
